Honey?

Okay, I have to admit that I never quite got over the idea that it is bee barf. The whole "collect the nectar then regurgitate it back out" thing. I know, that sticky-sweet fluid produced by our buzzing buddies is a terrific sugar substitute for sweetening baked goods or your afternoon tea. But, for me, I've never acquired a taste for the stuff. Which is really too bad since it has so many benefits.

Honey has long been used for medicinal purposes, like treating sore throats or for bouts with laryngitis. This is due to its great antibacterial and antiseptic properties and makes it great for the skin also. Which it awesome news for those of us who don't want to consumer it.

Honey lends a hand in reducing swelling and scarring when used to treat wounds and is an effective antimicrobial, preventing the growth of certain bacteria on the skin. This syrupy sweetener makes a soothing and healing skin care ingredient, great on its own as a facial mask to help fight blemishes and lock in moisture. Honey can also be applied directly to chapped lips to soften and repair delicate skin or for real staying power, use it my way by applying Skin's Lemon Lips lip balm. It will last for hours and the hint of lemon makes it perfect for my, ahem, honey issues...

Got a great use for honey? Share it with the Caren family. We'd love to hear about it!
