Did we mention we love soap! I am so glad to see people getting back to natural soap. Isn't that all we really need? Doesn't matter if it is liquid or bar as long as it is chemical free. We all know what our ancestors knew, that soap and water are as good at cleaning germs and better for you than all those chemical soaps. They come in so many awesome scents and colors and make great gifts.Antibacterial soap makes me shudder. Who wants sterile like a hospital when all you want to do is get clean. Antibacterial sounds more like a chemical cleaner and certainly not for your body. In fact, we keep hearing how the antibacterial soaps and cleaners do more harm than good because they might facilitate the development of super-resistant germs. If it kills living bacteria, what do you think it does to us? Well, we know. The main ingredient of antibacterial is a pesticide triclosan (also known as Microban) which we at Caren have already alerted you to.
Harsh soaps can also rob the skin of natural fats, weakening it and allowing toxins and bacteria to invade. Not for me. I am sticking with the natural organic and chemical free soap. One of my favorites is our Sensatia Volcanic Sand. Although, truthfully, I have several favorites and like to switch it up to get my soap fix of different scents and textures. If a a liquid soap is your preference than SKIN's Oodles of Oranges is a fun one. If you have children the Angel Baby Shampoo and Body Wash smells wonderful and kids love it. And it doubles as a shampoo. Yet another liquid soap is the Alaffia African Black Liquid Soap which contains shea butter and yes, it is actually black soap.
Here is a reminder list of ingredients to avoid in your soaps:
- alcohol or isopropyl
- DEA
- FD&C (colors)
- Fluoride
- MEA
- Mineral oils
- parabens
- PEG
- Propylene glycol
- sodium laureth sulfate
- talc
- TEA
- triclosan

Great read!
But you forgot to mention Fragrance!! Never buy a product with Fragrance in the ingredients, it has over 4,000 ingredients, many as known carcinogens.
I think it is just sick that there is 0 regulation, these companies can but essentially anything in their products and no one would care.
caren, i just visited your website and found your site.. i'd like to try a cream.. but the shipping is pretty costly that the total came to $25 for a $14 bottle... hmm.. I don't mind to order $75 or more..but I don't know if those creme work for me.. before I spend so much, I'd like to try and see if what it claim to do works for my skin.. my face's skin constantly break out every time I try a new facial lotion... I am trying to find the most organic, most affordable lotion there is.... please let me know if you can mail a tiny sample in an envelope (like those kind that Avon has?).. so that postage only have to be 47cents! :) lol... please let me know.. thanks!
Great point about fragrances! After a while, we begin to take some things for granted.
Suz, not sure why your shipping would be so expensive unless you are shipping Priority Mail to another country. Anyway, we are always happy to help! Just contact us on our retail site where you can provide your address, etc. in private. Thanks for stopping by, all!
