Changing Up Your Skin Care Routine?

We can give you hundreds of reasons why you should change out all your skin care products to natural and organic ones, but often it is the "how" that hangs people up. Well, my friends, here is how to do it:

1. Take your time.
If you change up too many products at once, you won't know what is making your skin better, worse, itchy, or wonderful. Start with just one and test it for a few days to check for reactions. To know if it is really benefiting your skin, a full week and sometimes even a full month is needed. Remember, it takes your body 30 days to turn over the outermost layer of skin with fresh new skin.

2. Experiment with a body product.
It's easy to swap out a bar of soap, body wash or lotion. If natural ingredients are new to you, and especially if you have sensitive skin, testing a body product for potential allergic reactions is much safer than on our face. Consider using it on only one part of your body, say your legs and take note of any changes. Get to know the ingredients on the labels--trust me, they're much easier to read than the chemical-laden ones under your sink!

3. Start at the beginning - a clean face!
Your cleanser is the bedrock of your entire face care regimen. If you are not getting your face really clean or are stripping it of all its natural oils, the rest of your products will not work properly. Finding the perfect cleanser is a must before all else. That's one of the best things about natural cleansers--they work fabulously, don't strip and leave your skin in tip-top shape for serums, moisturizers, etc.

4. Moisturize!
All skin, even oily skin, cries out for a layer of protect called a moisturizer. Whether a heavy cream or light lotion or gel, a moisturizer seals in moisture and can deliver tons of beneficial nutrients to our skin throughout the day. To test two moisturizers for the best results for your skin, try dividing your face down the middle and using one on the left side for week and the other on the right. Compare how your skin feels on each side at the end of the week. (To keep things straight, I put each bottle on the appropriate side of the sink while testing!)

5. Toner, serums and hydrosols.
When you've found the perfect cleanser/moisturizer combination, you are ready to add in a daily treatment. Skin treatments like toners, serums and hydrosols add terrific boosts of natural vitamins and anti-oxidants to freshly washed skin. Each treatment is specifically designed for special skin needs, so read up on these miracle workers and their incredible plant-based healing powers!

That's it! When you are ready, add in a purifying weekly mask, eye cream or makeup remover. Going natural is, well, natural! Drop us a line with questions or just to let us know how much you love your new, beautiful skin--courtesy of Mother Nature!
